What is a coaching session?

Frequently Asked Questions at Starlit Sky CoachingTo you a coaching session will feel like an easy and open conversation. Sessions will revolve around what you want, your specific focus and interests, as well as the issues that you feel are standing in your way. Each session will be unique to you.
I help people such as yourself clarify and achieve leadership, career and life goals while feeling less stressed and more confident. The work that we do will help you experience a shift in the way you see yourself and your environment and this changing perspective will allow you to maximize your potential and start to see more opportunities open up for you.

HOW CAN YOU DETERMINE IF COACHING IS RIGHT FOR YOU?

To determine whether you could benefit from coaching, start by asking yourself whether you are currently maximizing your leadership potential, in the role or career you want, or living the life that you want in all areas. If there is a gap between where you want to be and where you currently are, coaching can be a great tool for closing that gap. If you feel that clarifying or accelerating the path to get there sounds appealing and you’re ready to be honest with yourself, coaching is right for you.

WHAT WILL I HAVE TO DO?

To get the best from Leadership, Career, or Life Coaching, you just need have a desire to have a more fulfilling life. It helps if you are honest within the coaching relationship and with yourself. Although the coaching sessions will just feel like a conversation and you will benefit from that, it is highly advisable that you give yourself time to commit to and complete the actions that you’ve agreed to at the end of each session. It will help you to get where you want to go faster. Ultimately your level of commitment will directly influence the speed and extent to which your goals will be realized.

WHAT ARE SOME TYPICAL REASONS SOMEONE MIGHT WORK WITH A COACH?

An individual might choose to work with a coach for many reasons, including but not limited to the following:

  • In a leadership position with a desire to maximize personal and team motivation levels and performance, as well as organizational goal achievement
  • Looking for career advancement
  • Unhappy in current career but unable to see other options
  • Career transition
  • Knows there is a gap between what they want and what is here and now
  • A lack of confidence in their abilities
  • Feelings of stress, anxiety and worry
  • Feeling stuck in a position or circumstances
  • Difficulty adjusting to a new position or circumstances

WHAT IS A HYPNOSIS SESSION?

A hypnosis session will feel similar to a coaching session except it will include hypnosis (usually relatively short) specific to what positive changes you would like to see. During hypnosis, you will be guided into a trance-like state in which you have heightened focus and concentration. Hypnosis can be used to help you gain control over undesired behaviors or help you cope better with emotions that are not serving you like anxiety, fear or not feeling good enough.

WHAT DOES HYPNOSIS FEEL LIKE?

When you’re under hypnosis, you usually feel calm and relaxed, and are more open to suggestions.

CAN HYPNOSIS MAKE ME DO THINGS THAT I DON’T WANT TO DO?

No. It’s important to know that all hypnosis is self-hypnosis.  Although you’re more open to suggestion during hypnosis, you don’t lose control over your behavior.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I CAN BE HYPnOTIZED?

99% of people can be; it just takes practice. The ideal hypnosis client will:

  1. Believe they can be hypnotized
  2. Pay attention, give it time and relax into it
  3. Use their imagination
  4. Make a commitment to themselves to change

WHAT ARE SOME TYPICAL REASONS SOMEONE MIGHT WORK WITH A HYPNOTIST?

Sometimes for the same reasons that you’d seek out the services of a coach. That being said, sometimes you’ve already done the work of growing awareness around and improving yourself. You’ve made positive changes in your life but still feel yourself falling into old familiar patterns, emotions and behaviours that are not serving you during times of stress. This is where hypnosis comes in.

WHERE ARE SESSIONS HELD?

Sessions can be held by phone (coaching only) or online through Zoom (required for hypnosis). Phone and online sessions are great options to help fit coaching into your busy life and are just as effective as face-to-face sessions.

HOW LONG ARE SESSIONS?

Coaching and/or hypnosis sessions are 55 minutes in length.

HOW LONG DO I NEED COACHING/HYPNOSIS FOR?

The length of our relationship is really up to you. I recommend a minimum commitment of 2 months to truly discover and cement your results. To be honest, many of my clients ask to continue on afterwards because they see and experience the benefits that sessions provide.

HOW TO FIND A COACH/hypnotist

Finding the right coach/hypnotist for you is important. You have to trust, feel comfortable with and confident in your coach’s/hypnotist’s abilities to ensure you get the most out of your sessions.
